Our new life

Allen has to travel to North Dakota next week. It is a last minute trip. One of three he is taking this month. So we decided he should take off Friday so we can spend some time together before he leaves. Tonight we had Mexican takeout and made margaritas. I could only have one until after Alexis went to sleep. I finally got her down at 7:30pm. I was so excited to have a glass of wine and enjoy an evening with Allen. The combination of getting up at 4am and 3 margaritas leaves me with this....

I love my life and am very blessed. I will cherish these moments.

Never say never

I learned on the drive home from the hospital not to say "I'll never..."   My sister suggested Alexis could sleep in our bed with us. I was nervous about getting up in the middle of the night to feed her after having a c-section. I told her there was no way she would ever sleep in our bed. Of course she slept in our bed that night.

I told my Mom I don't want to put Alexis in front of the TV. I want to limit her TV exposure. Of course we have learned at 3 months it works great to put her in her swing and I get 15-20 minutes to get something done. Today she fell asleep in her swing😘

Happy Valentine's Day 2015

I am not really big on going out for Valentine's Day.  I hate crowds and don't want to wait to have crappy service and not as good food because the restaurant is so busy.  But I do like to celebrate with Allen and make sure we take a moment to let each other know how much we care and love each other.

This year Valentine's Day was on a Saturday.  Allen was away all week in North Dakota. He arrived home on Thursday night.  We decided he would work a half day on Friday (well not really a half day if you count that he started working at 5am and worked until after 2pm) and then go to a late lunch. This would be our first meal out without Alexis.  I found an Italian restaurant for us to try that was only ten minutes away.  We were out of practice ordering a bottle of wine...took us a bit to find something we liked.  The food was good and the dessert was awesome.  It was nice to get away just the two of us.  Something I hope to do a few times a month.  Thank you to my Mom who babysat for us.

Here we are at the restaurant. We did ask our waitress to take our picture but she wasn't very good at taking pictures so we took our own:)

On Saturday we decided to drive back to Surfside Beach and check out a few places we might rent in May for our birthdays. The plan was to eat at the beach again.  However the weather was overcast and started to get cold so we drove back to Manvel.  Of course it was sunny and 76 degrees by our house so we opted for a late lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the awesome weather.  And Alexis slept the entire time---so nice:)

Fun Video Clips of Alexis

I love taking short 30 second video clips of Alexis.  You can easily text or email them to friends and family.  I also like the idea of letting her see herself as she grows up.  Below are some I wanted to share:

 Jan 7, 2015

Here is a clip of her sleeping--yes she moves around and makes this much noise in her sleep.  Wish I turned on the light but didn't want to wake her.

Alexis finally finds her fist and loves putting it in her mouth.

Alexis enjoying her swing for the first time.  She will stay happy in her swing for about ten minutes.  It is ten minutes I can get something done:)

Talking to Daddy.  She is so cute when she tries to talk.  One day those noises will become words--crazy to think about.

Waking Up.  We made this little video for Allen.
He was traveling and we wanted him to have something to watch when he was away.

She loves licking her jacket. We were getting ready to go out and she wanted to talk.
Wish I knew what she was saying

Sedona Lakes Neighborhood

We moved into a new section of the Sedona Lakes subdivision in Manvel, TX (20 minutes south of Houston).  We moved into our home on 9/25/14 and were the only house on our block. It took us two months --and many phone calls to have internet installed in our home. We are still not listed in google or mapquest so no one can find us.  Our bank would not let us change our mailing address for over a month because it was not listed in their system:)  We had to pick up our mail from the post office for five weeks because we didn't have a mailbox. We have helped pave the way for our future neighbors.

There are currently 11 homes in some phase of construction just on our street.  I wanted to post a few pictures to remember this time. I am glad it is being built all at once but it can be a bit much to have construction going on all the time.  We are also having a pool and backyard installed so we have our own construction in the backyard (there will be a future post with pictures).  Here are some of the neighborhood:

Nana

We are so lucky to have my mom living with us.  It has been great to have her here to help with Alexis, to enjoy a cup of coffee with in the morning and have someone to chat with throughout the day.  She has been so helpful...I don't know how I would do this without her.  Here are some pictures of her and Alexis.
