Our backyard transformation

Our backyard when we first moved into our house.

The outline of the pool--it is a light orange color. December 2014

Trenching the pool...we were getting excited.

Installing the filter system

Concrete poured...the pool is looking great.

The flagstone coping and tile are installed. A worker is installing the rock fountain.

Deciding on the deck color. Allen was out of town. Stressful decision to have to make without him...and in one day.

Decking turned out great. Feb 2015

The structure is installed. It is extended from our roof line.

Finally putting water in out pool. March 2015

Working on the fire pit.

Outdoor kitchen is getting started.

The pool and spa are full. Can't wait to use it. But wait we need to brush all of the plaster twice a day for two weeks. Ugh:(

Landscaping has started. April 2015

Finished....well almost we are still waiting for the gas company to upgrade our gas meter.

Outdoor kitchen looks great.

Fire pit is ready to use

View at night. The trees are lit in the background.

This project took over four months to complete. It got to be a bit crazy having a newborn, having people working in your backyard at all hours and days (they wouldn't show up all week and stop by on Friday at 4pm to start working), and having the neighborhood construction at the same time.

However getting to the enjoy the backyard now makes it all worth it.

Hope you come visit us and enjoy it with us.

Feeling blessed

It feels like it has been raining forever. Apparently Houston gets a lot of rain. According to my brother...52 inches per year. The locals have said it not normally this bad--of course we put in a pool and fire pit and can't use it:)

Right now I am sitting in my bedroom watching the rain and lightning show. I am holding Alexis...to make sure she is really asleep before putting her in her crib. Allen is asleep next to me. I am feeling very blessed. I am so thankful for my family and to have a roof over my head.

Alexis looking super cute tonight.

Happy Easter

We had a great first Easter with Alexis. Allen was off on the Thursday and Friday before Easter. He has been working so much it was nice to have him home for a long weekend.

The weather was great on Thursday and Friday. We were able to enjoy sitting in our new backyard. Here is one picture of the pool. I will include more in a separate blog.

                Nana and Alexis

My Mom and I got Easter baskets for everyone and decorated the house. Here are our baskets....

The Easter Bunny delivered the baskets early so we could enjoy our candy all weekend:)

             Mom, Trevor and Alexis

Allen got a Jesus chocolate fish instead of a bunny. It is a little joke we have.

Here I am with some yummy peeps

                Jessica and Alexis

Trevor was able to leave work early on Friday so we were able to have dinner with him. Glad he could spend the weekend with us.

Alexis looking good in one of her Easter outfits.

Here is another one. It was too cold to wear the sundress I got for her. The bib was a gift from the Murphy's. Kept her clean most of the day๐Ÿ˜˜.

Check out her boots. Unfortunately she has the Bergin ankles so they won't stay on๐Ÿ˜

She sat in her high chair for the first time. It was nice to eat together at a table.

She had so many toys to help keep her occupied.

My Mom and I went to church on Saturday. Allen and Trevor watched Alexis.  I prefer going Easter morning all dressed up but this worked better in our schedule. On Sunday we made ham and all the usual sides. We were able to Skype with our family and friends in NY. It was great to see them and share the holiday.

Overall it was a great Easter.
