Find Joy in the Ordinary: October 2016

Grandpa Bob and Grandma Sherron visited us in Texas for the first time. It was so great to see them. We had such amazing weather when they were in town. They were probably tired of us talking about how nice it was out. We are so over the 90+ degree weather in October:) They arrived on Thursday night. On Friday we relaxed at the house.

Allen was away for a week for work. When he got back home his Dad and Sherron were here for their visit. Alexis really missed her Daddy.

On Sunday Allen and Bob went to a BBQ place for lunch.

On Monday we went to the Kemah Boardwalk. It was decorated for Halloween. Daddy and Alexis looking cute

Cole turned 3 months on 10/14. He is growing so fast. He loves to coo and talk to you. He is jealous of Alexis and will cry if you are not paying attention to him. He is learning to be competitive at an early age. He wakes up 1-3 times per night to eat but goes right back to sleep. He prefers to be held and doesn't really like to sit in his chair or car seat. He loves being with everyone. He rolled to the side for the first time. He tries really hard to sit straight up...from laying flat on his back. He must have super strong stomach muscles. He is sleeping in a mini crib in our room.

Alexis turned 22 months on 9/25. She is such a toddler. She loves to talk and is learning more words and sentences each day. Some of our favorites:

Cookie pronounced CooK E. This could mean, Cookie Monster, any form of food that is not actually a cookie--chicken, eggplant, tofu. My mom thinks we should say "chicken cookie" so later in life she doesn't say we tricked her:)
Bubble KEY. Really no idea what this means. We think she is saying bubbles but not sure why she has added the key.
Bye, Bye TA. Means bye, bye see you later
Hop, Hop. She wants to jump
Wee. Go down a slide or anything that she thinks resembles a slide. This includes the stairs, coffee tables, any high ledges.
Home. She has started calling Allen home. We would say, Dada is home. She used to copy us and now she leaves off the Dada and just says home. It is funny
No, No, No. No sure where she gets this saying.
She loves to count, 1, 2, 9. Not sure what happened to 3
She is very insistent the letter S is the number 2. She really won't back down when we all keep saying, it is an S.
I love listening to her talk on the monitor. In the morning she chats, signs, practices her yelling.

She also loves screaming and frowning. Things I think she is learning from school. She loves school but doesn't love napping there. At least she will still sleep at home. She is learning to prolong bedtime by asking for food, water, another book, bunny her stuffed animal, balls, toys etc. She wants to carry her bunny around the room as we say good night to the room. She drops it often and says whoops. We are on to you Alexis:)

I got this table so Alexis had a place to sit and color. She prefers to color the table. Nana and Dad are great about cleaning it so she always has a new place to color
